《黑色守卫2》讲述了Mengbilla现任统治者Marwan与新玩家角色Cassia之间的冲突，Cassia开展了一场与Mengbilla的军事对抗，希望将Mengbilla推翻，由自己来统治。玩家需要招募来自前作的成员，利用游戏的六边形网格战斗系统与Mengbilla对抗。
《黑色守卫2》看上去更具策略性，因为你需要决定下一块征服的地方;与此同时，你还可以招募到最多10个雇佣兵，并为他们选择好最佳的作战位置。当Mengbilla来攻打你的城池时，你还需要进行布防。
